  • ½ cup / 120 ml Buttermilk
  • 1 cup / 180 g Chocolate Chips

Instructions

Prepare The Oven and Baking Pan

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit or 175 degrees Celsius.
  • Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan and line it with parchment paper. Set it aside.

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a medium mixing bowl, add the all-purpose flour and baking powder.
  • Sprinkle in salt and give everything a quick mix. Set the bowl aside.

Prepare Wet Ingredients

  • Grab a large mixing bowl and add softened butter and sugar to it.
  • Using a handheld or stand mixer, beat the butter and sugar together on medium-high speed for about 2-3 minutes or until the mixture becomes light and fluffy.
  • Crack the eggs into the mix and add vanilla essence.
  • And beat again for 1 minute or until combined.

Alternate Buttermilk and Dry Mix

  • Use a spatula, or turn the mixer to low speed and gradually add the dry ingredients and buttermilk in alternation.
  • Mix between each addition until just combined.
  • Fold the chocolate chips into the batter with a spatula.

Bake, Cool, and Serve

  • Pour and spread the batter evenly into the prepared loaf pan.
  • Bake it in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool for at least 15-20 minutes before removing it from the pan.
  • Place the cake on a wire rack and allow it to cool completely to room temperature.
  • Serve plain or add a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream on top.
