Equipment

Ingredients

  • ½ cup / 120 ml Melted Butter Unsalted
  • 1 cup / 200 g Brown Sugar
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 1 tsp / 5 ml Vanilla Essence
  • ½ cup / 60 g All-Purpose Flour
  • ½ cup / 43 g Cocoa Powder
  • ½ tsp / 3 g Salt
  • 150 grams / 0.33 lb Semi-sweet Dark Chocolate

Instructions

Prepare The Pan and Dry Ingredients

  • Grab a 7x7-inch square baking pan and coat it with butter or a nonstick cooking spray.
  • Line the baking pan with parchment paper with an overhang on the sides and set it aside.
  • In a medium-sized mixing bowl, whisk together 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup cocoa powder, and 1/2 tsp of salt. Set aside for later use.

Make Brownie Batter

  • Add 1/2 cup of unsalted butter to a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of simmering water or in the microwave.
  • Let the butter cool slightly after melting (around 5 minutes), so it doesn’t cook the eggs in the batter.
  • Then, add 1 cup of brown sugar to the melted butter, and mix well.
  • Pour 1 tsp of vanilla essence into the bowl, crack in 2 large eggs one by one, and start whisking. Whisk until a smooth batter forms.
  • Whisk to combine all the ingredients for 1-2 minutes. You can use an electric mixer as well.

Add Dry Ingredients, Chocolate Chunks, and Bake

  • Add the flour-salt mixture you prepared earlier into the wet ingredients using a spatula.
  • Chop 150 grams of semi-sweet dark chocolate and mix it in.
  • Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan.
  • Bake the brownies in the preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius, 350 degrees Fahrenheit, for 25-30 minutes.

Cool, Serve, and Enjoy!

  • Once baked, remove the brownies from the oven and place the pan on a cooling rack.
  • Let the brownies cool to room temperature before lifting them out and slicing them into squares.
  • Enjoy the delicious brown sugar brownies on their own or serve them with a scoop of ice cream for an extra treat!
