Why You’ll Love This Chicken Sandwich

- Flavourful sauteed chicken and vegetable filling.
- No need to use mayonnaise.
- Made with simple pantry ingredients.
- Ready within 20 minutes.
What Makes a Great Chicken Sandwich?
This chicken sandwich is great because it uses sauteed vegetables with shredded chicken instead of a creamy filling with something unhealthy like mayonnaise.
Because the rustic bread is pan-toasted with butter, it adds more flavor to the sandwich. The cheese used to top the sandwich filling binds the rest of the filling together when toasted.
And the rustic bread used for this buttery, toasted sandwich maintains the structure of the sandwich and holds up the texture for a moist filling.

Tips for Perfect Pan-Toasted Sandwich
- Make sure you keep the heat on the pan on low to medium heat to make sure that the easy chicken sandwich heats evenly and the bread doesn’t burn.
- The ideal heat level for the quick chicken sandwich filling should be medium and low to medium for toasting the bread.
- To make sure the cheese melts evenly, spread the cheese evenly onto the bread, and make sure the heat is consistently even on the bread.
- You can keep the filling moist by using moist chicken thighs instead of chicken breasts, and use enough oil to saute the filling.

Bread Options for This Sandwich
- The best kind of bread to use for this shredded chicken sandwich is rustic bread, as it gives the sandwich structure.
- You can also use sourdough bread to make the toasted chicken sandwich. Using homemade sourdough bread will make the sandwich taste even better.
- Whole wheat bread is another option to make this chicken cheese sandwich.
Storage & Reheating
- If you want to store the leftover sandwich, make sure you store the sandwich filling separately.
- You can reheat the sandwich in your skillet. Just make sure you use a bit of butter on the bread so that the bread does not burn.
- To avoid soggy sandwiches, you need to use a moisture barrier like butter or cheese, and toast the bread properly.

Variations to Try
- Spicy Version With Chili Flakes: The recipe I am sharing already uses chili flakes, but if you want a spicy version of this chicken sandwich, you can add more chili flakes to your desire.
- Garlic Butter Bread: I use salted butter on the bread to toast the sandwich. But you can also use garlic butter to enhance the taste of the bread and make it garlicky.
- Extra Cheese Option: I already use a lot of cheese in this sandwich. But you can always add more. You can even add different kinds of cheese together.
- Adding Herbs: You can add different types of herbs to add freshness to your sandwich, like parsley, chopped dill, basil, or even cilantro.
