I remember the first time I tasted fruit cream at a family picnic. My aunt made it, and the bright colors and refreshing taste caught my attention immediately. On that scorching summer day, this dessert was like an oasis of cool sweetness. Since then, my love for fruit cream has never died, and I have continued to make it over and over again with little change each time.
This fruit salad with cream or fruit cream salad is one of our favorite summer desserts that we enjoy at home as a family or whenever we host our friends on different occasions because it is irresistible, especially if you want something yummy to take on.
Why I Love This Fruit Cream Recipe
There are several reasons why I adore this dessert recipe. Firstly, it’s extremely flexible. It works perfectly well with any type of fruit available in your house, making it the perfect way to utilize seasonal produce. The combination of heavy cream, condensed milk, and Greek yogurt makes an excellent base that is just right in terms of sweetness—neither too sweet nor too sour.
In addition to being crunchy due to the presence of pistachios and cashew nuts, the freshness of fruits and the creaminess of the base make this a go-to dessert in my house.
What is Needed to Make Fruit Cream?
Here is a list of all the ingredients that you’ll need to prepare this creamy fruit salad delight:
Heavy Cream
The heavy cream forms the base for this dessert, lending it its smooth texture. Ensure that you use cold heavy cream so that, when whipped, its consistency will be perfect.
Condensed Milk
Sweetened condensed milk adds a little more sweetness to the cream to balance out the tartness from the yogurt and the freshness from the fruits.
Greek Yogurt
Greek yogurt lends a mild tanginess while providing thickness to the mixture. Moreover, compared with adding extra cream or using other sweetened dairy products, this is a healthier option as well.
Vanilla Essence
Even though sometimes vanilla extract may not seem necessary, just a few drops in the fruity mix bring out nice flavors that go hand in hand with them.
Fresh Fruits
- Apple adds crispness and mild sweetness.
- Grapes: juicy and slightly sour, each bite is filled with flavor.
- Mango offers a tropical sweetness that’s hard to resist.
- Strawberry helps to cut the overall sweetness of the dessert with its gentle tartness.
- Banana: creamy and sweet, it blends well with other fruits.
Nuts
- Pistachios bring about a crunchy effect and a little bit of a salty taste.
- Cashews: as they are soft and buttery, they perfectly match other textures in general.
Different Variations to Give a Try
The most impressive characteristic of this recipe of fruit cream, in my opinion, is its versatility. Here are some varieties that may interest you:
Exotic Tropical Twist
Replace some of the fruits with tropical ones such as bananas, papaya, green grapes, and pomegranate. You can also add pear, kiwi, melon, and dragon fruits. It can also be topped with grated coconuts for a very exotic taste.
Berry Delight
Blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and strawberries are mixed for a berrylicious version. This variation is perfect when berries are at their sweetest because they are in season.
Indulgence from Nuts
Increase the nutty content by adding almonds, pecans, or walnuts if you love them. You can even lightly toast the nuts so that they develop a richer flavor.
Dripping Chocolate
Drizzle melted dark chocolate over your delectable Fruit cream before serving to make it more decadent. The combination of fruit and chocolate has always been popular among people.
Citrus Zing
Add a little zest to your cream mixtures; lemon or orange zest will cut through its richness, giving it a refreshing zing on its way down your tongue.

Ingredients
- 1 cup / 240 g Heavy Cream (cold)
- ½ cup / 155 g condensed milk
- 2 tbsp / 30 g Greek Yogurt
- 1 tsp / 5 ml Vanilla essence
- 1 cup / 125 g Apple (diced)
- 1 cup / 150 g Green Grapes (halved)
- 1 cup / 165 g Mango (diced)
- 1 cup / 145 g Strawberry (quartered)
- 1 large / 135 g Banana (sliced)
- 1 tbsp / 8 g chopped Pistachio
- 2 tbsp / 20 g chopped Cashew
Instructions
Prepare the cream mixture.
- In a large bowl, combine 2 cups cold heavy cream (fresh cream), ½ cup condensed milk, 2 tbsp Greek yogurt, and 1 tsp vanilla essence. Beat them until soft peaks form using an electric mixer or whisk. This means that the mixture will be thick enough to stand on its own while remaining soft at the same time. Basically, the consistency will be like custard.
Mix the fruits and nuts.
- In another big bowl, mix one cup of diced apple, one cup of halved grapes, one cup of diced mango, one cup of quartered strawberries, and one large sliced banana. Add one tablespoon of chopped or crushed pistachios, as well as two tablespoons of cashews, also chopped. Toss gently so that all fruit pieces touch the nuts in any order.
Combine Mixture
- Over the mixed fruits and nuts, pour the whipped cream mixture. With a spatula, carefully fold the cream into the fruit mixture until all the pieces are coated. To remain light and fluffy, avoid overmixing it.
Serve and garnish.
- Serve the delicious Fruit Cream in your favorite serving bowls or glasses. On top of that, sprinkle a few more chopped pistachios to add some extra elegance. Serve immediately if you want it to be soft and moist, or refrigerate for 30 minutes if you prefer it to be colder than that.

Though Greek yogurt has been preferred due to its thicker texture and tangier taste, you could still drain regular yogurt until it reaches this state too.
